Hi Midge, I have a Landrover Discovery 98 TDI, I travel about 12000 km a month all over Queensland from the gulf the cape and as far south as Biloela. Traveling over some very rough track that large mine plant uses, although I have had a couple of problems I take my car in for a service every 4-5 weeks and have my repairer go right over it. It has been a fantastic vechile with little trouble but only because I have it looked after it all the time, because without the car no Business. My Discovery has over 350000km on it now and still going strong. The repairer I use is Dave at Automotive Repair Certer 345 Bayswater Rd Garbutt Phone 47256996 email arc07@bigpond.com. Dave has been looking after my Discovery for 4 years now, after I had a fall out with the local dealer($$$), Dave is very reasonable with his pricing and always notifies me if he finds something a miss so as to give me the option to repair or replace. You can imagine how much I would spend if I took it to the dealer every time. give Dave a call, Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised with his pricing and professionalism.
Happy Disco Driving

Thanks for the reply, our Discovery has been really good and seved us well since new in 97, with a major trip every year it has carried quite a load and been in some rough country as you we have always kept services up to date and maintained it with care, we have stepped up to a Landcriuser, but our son bought the Discovery of us last year, he has moved to Townsville and he just recently found the cracks, being new in that area was unsure where to go for a good job, I have passed your recomemdation on to him, we have an excellent mechanic here, a Landrover enthusiast, and that is what our son would be looking for up there.
