Eric,

I just read my book and says to press and hold the power key (once booted) for 2 secs the backlight will come on low - press and hold 2 secs will go to med, again will go high power. Manual says severe drain on the batteries in this mode. It also mentions backlight will power off after 4 mins of key in-activity this can be adjusted in backlight area in Setup.

Good luck and guess what - I tried it and it worked now I also know!

Guys,

I've got mine dash mounted, and powered off the car (tapped into the cigarette lighter behind the dash) - I've also turned off the 4 min timer, so I get the light happening, and leave it on when I'm wanting GPS detail - works well (bugger the double As!!)

Regards

Ivan

Eric,

I wouldn't mind the 700watt inverter if it is going for a reasonable price. You won't have any use for it...... lol

Eric - you will also need user manuall for calibrating electronic compass - I dont think this availble via magellan website - but it is on Meridian Yahoo user group site - or it was - havent looked lately. If you cant find it give me a yell and Ill try and find my copy and email it to you.
