I would appreciate if any of Forum readers have had problems with the Turbo on the 2002 ML270i. I had the original replaced in January 2004 at about 25,000klms and had a 2nd replacement in April at about 27,000. Is this likely to have any harmful effects on the motor??? I am no mechanic.

I also have had a rattle in the Exhaust Manifold area sounds similiar to the query raised by John S in 10/4/2003 Forum. It was a loose part and soon fixed. I do believe it could be coming back and it is a bit sharper than diesel knock.

I also warn 270cdi owners have had a plastic non return valve in the fuel line go U/S with resultant smell and messy garage floor. My dealer had a similiar problem with a 270cdi sedan.

Thanks for any info in anticipation.,

There are afew ml owners who traded on a 120 prado and joined the 120 email list at www.lcool.org who were most unhappy with the ML for varying reasons of unreliability.

Duncan, I don't have any experience with the ML270 turbo. Have a ML320 and have found dealer support excellent. It would largely depend on what sort of problem you have had. If it has put metal filings into your oil lines the potential is there, otherwise unlikely I would have thought.

Brotherinlaw had Freelander that lost it's turbo and put the metal into the engine and was not supported by the dealer or LR. Sorry I can't help directly with your engine though.

I would like a bigger diesel of MB actually, cousin has a 320E diesel in the UK and it goesss.
