Hi all

Latest on Globalstar plan rates:
Effective 1 May 2004 Gstar 35 (no minimum term) Monthly Access Fee $35, calls included $10, rates per 30 secs; Satellite out 90c, flagfall 60c, in 0c; GSM out 30c, flagfall 25c, in 0.

So, cheapest plan now $35 per month, no minimum period, $10 calls included AND ALL incoming calls are now FREE.

A much better deal for all.

Graeme does this mean you can still connect and disconnect for the period you dont need the thing ie I was going to connect around 1st may and disconect at end of august for a fee of $30 each way.
One more question what does the person calling you pay when the wife rings me while im away does she pay 90c per 30 sec and the flag fall.

Hope you can answer the above
Many thanks
Eric

Hi Eric
As I understand it - thecheapest plan Globalstar will have from 1 May 2004 is called the Gstar 35. If you join that plan then there is no minimum term (the other 5 plans have 24 month minimum terms) so you can connect & disconnect as you wish ... however, the connection fee is $200 & there is a suspension facility (maximum of 3 months) which will cost $11 per month.
I think that means when you connect on the 1 May you will pay $200 connection fee plus a monthly Access Fee of $35 each month you keep the phone connected. You can suspend your service for 3 months at $11 per month; after that its lose your number or go back to the minimum plan of $35 per month or re-connect at $200 when you want to re-join.
ALL incoming calls will be FREE on these plans - anyone calling you pays whatever their carrier charges them on whatever plan they are on.
Hope that all makes sense.

Hi

I think most of us paid about the $A500 mark; they came from a guy in the UK who sold 'exchange units'!

Wait till I finish this 3 month trip & you can have mine for $500 & you will save on some of the $200 connection fee :}

Seriously though, keep your eye on eBay - just do regular searches for R290 (all that's there now are 2 items - both accesories).

Good luck

Hi Phil P
I got mine from *ei* on ebay. I was out bid, but he emailed me and told me he had more for $530 delivered. I would email him and ask for the same deal.

G'day Graeme, thanks for the information, much appreciated. I was still waiting on being informed by Globalstar. Now we can all rest easy in actually knowing the rates.
thanks again
