my travelling companion for the upcoming
Vic High Country trip (4 days and counting!!) has a swb diseasel 40 series.... anyway - recent service found some water in his front diff - i asked him if he'd extended the breathers and he tells me the mechanic said there are no breathers on the front and it breathes through the hubs.
is this correct? if so - what do you do to prevent water ingress during water crossings?
cheers,
KG

hi guys.
this is my 40 we're talkin about here.
Thanks for takin the time to post this KG, or i would of never really investigated the matter further. I saw the post and thought I would respond but first get a better look at the diff (at night) and i discovered at hole in teh axel just above where the brake lines meet. I would of thought the mechanic would of picked that up as I had a spare threaded nipple in the box of bits and peices that came with it.
I gave that nipple a shot and she went straight in. so that solves that problem and one less thing to worry about. I had second thoughts about driving down there without one..
I'll make sure diff hose is on my shopping list for tomorrow
is any recommendations on what to get? oil resistant tubing?
Thanks again,
AR
