John, why not use an pld (or new) bicycle pump - merely reverse the seal on the end of the plunger (handle ) voila!!

John - for what its worth the vacuum meat packer bags and equipment are available here in
ADELAIDE from
MBL Food
Services, 432 Churchill Road, Kilburn, 8 262 5433. Lots of butchers have them now, so as to provide clients with bush trip packaged products - if you find a butcher who has one, they will vac pac the order for you (
mine charges a very few dollars for the plastic packaging - no other charge).
Just means you go to a butcher instead of the S mart ? Whatever.
