Has anyone out there installed an ARB 4.2l Diesel battery tray into a 2.8 TD. Provided you don't intend fitting a snorkel and have to move the air filter, I'm having trouble seeing why it won't fit. The space seems to be there and the overflow bottle looks the same. ARB say they've never tried and "if it isn't listed it won't fit". Are they sure? They haven't offered to try, for a sale. The one they do list for the 2.8 is the same as a 4.2 petrol, mounted where the carbon canister is, but doesn't fit an N70 battery. I want to use the same battery as the starter, but my old one.

I got Opposite Lock to fit one to my RB30 petrol GQ - it fits around the washer bottle neatly

had to relocated the power steering reservior and extend the hose to the snorkel
and reroute the fuel line to the charcoal cannister.

haven't seen under the bonnet of a 2.8TD so can't comment, but if the wheel arch is fairly vacant can't see why it won't fit

hmmm thanks Nigel. I suspect being petrol, yours has the smaller battery? I can't say I'm familiar with the underbonnet of the 3l. I'll drag out an old fourby mag and have a look.

no the 4.2 petrol has the small battery tray near the firewall.

there is no tray for the 3 litre petrol, but opposite lock fitted the one for the 4.2 diesel on top of the wheel arch and bolted back to the guard each side of the radiator overflow bottle thing...

I would fit the Safari Snorkel and aircleaner as you get a well need power increase and put the battery in the passenger side back corner.

If money wasn't an object I'd get a Safari intercooler and snorkel. Mind you I'd still rather a 4.2, but anyway. Battery tray and isolator are still gonna cost me almost $200. Snorkel, another $800, not an option. Don't like water much anyway. I've looked at the firewall and am quite sure my N70 battery won't fit, even if I could get a tray for back there big enough. Move the air con plumbing and the carbon canister..not this black duck. Thanks for your thoughts. Looks like I'm going to have to twist a mates arm to remove his out of his truck (4.2) so I can have a proper look.
