Noting that when someone replies to a post made, that the email informing you of this, is taking a few hours to arrive..

Used to be instant...

Should be instant - I have had heaps of instant emails last night & today from the post we have loaded - Are you having an email issue?

The server is not reporting any delays and I have not introduced any!

David, I had the same problem. Thought it was just me but checked the Forum and did replies and about four hours later the emails came to the messages on Forum I had already applied to. Thought it was just living out here in Queensland where everything is so much slower. Hahaha.

Would be good if we could tick a box when wanting to be notified of a reply, rather than let them go to an unused addy and bulk delete when you dont want to keep up.

I've noticed that emails arriving the next day after you place a trader add or when you make a change etc and I have also noticed when someone replies to a thread there is a delay in getting the email response from that also.

Mine are coming through fine

must be an upstream routing issue somewhere.

This sounds like the issue to me also - Please everyone keep an eye on it and let me know if it continues in the next few days. We are certainly sending the messages out instantly from the server and into our outbound email server farm (currently around 10 machines) there could also be a problem one of these machines however I suspect some other external routing problem.

Hi,
Mine are also coming through almost instantly.
Most likely as Sam said a routing problem, delay at your ISP's upstream provider. Yahoo, Hotmail etc. often have that problem.

for my education ,
what is the reason for posting a reply or posting a follow-up
is the follow-up meant to be specific to that particular reply
why have the two variants

A reply is a direct reply to the original post.

A followup (such as this) relates to your reply. That is I want to talk to you specifically about what you have written in your reply. This may or may not fully relate to the original post. I worte the system this way to try to keep everything together in one place without making it one long thread that jumps all over the place as various side topics get raised.

A note on the email flow:
A Reply will cause the system to send email to the thread originator.
A followup will cause email to go to the replier and all follow up'ers in that reply (not the post originator).

Hope this helps, we will now add this to the new FAQ page that is being built. See About Us - FAQ in the menu.

If your email is sent to a Yahoo addy, then there is your problem. They have been having significant delays of late related to the latest batch of viruses, and the traffic they create. Has been noted on some yahoo groups that it can take several hours to a day or so to get similar email alerts for responses to group messages.
