idling turbos

Toyota state no additional idling is necessary prior to switching off a turbo Deisel Prado, in "normal city driving". Although they recommend an idle of 2 mins post fast or hard driving.
This seems to contradict the common wisdom of always idling before switching off.
Anybody got any comments
