Alex
I have the smartire system fitted to my touring wheels. Just completed a trip of several thousand k's without a
puncture so I can't really say if it would have prevented a tyre destruction. However, it was very reassuring to constantly monitor the temp and pressure in each tyre. No cons as far as I can tell. It cost me $150 USD on ebay. Only drawback with the MkI version is that it only monitors four wheels. The MkII can monitor six I believe. (both spares as
well)

Sounds like a good investment Bob. Only takes 1 stuffed tyre saved to get your money back.

Do you recall the vendor you dealt with Bob? That sounds like a pretty good price.

I bought it from a small outlet in the Midwest. I just had a look and there were none available on ebay. Ebay has a facility where you can be notified if an item matching your search criteria is listed. I think I did that.
