Does anyone know theres a search function on this site?
This place averages about 30,000 Tire threads a day with the same questions time and time again..
When you come to the
forum,
check at the top, you will see this word SEARCH (www.dictionary.com for a meaning to the word) and see what happens. You will be shocked..

Just a question about your bodylift for GQ PAtrol
I was told by Vic roads you must get an engineers certificate for 2" Bodylift
Because the steering shaft is more weakend, due to the slip joint being much closer to the end of the steering shaft!
They said if an accident occured due to steering shaft failure and someone was killed, you'd be in big strife!
PS Trying to get insurance for a Bodylift and 4"
suspension lift is Murder!
Thats Why I took out my bodylift a couple of months ago!

Correct. Engineers for bodylift, and
suspension lifts over 75mm. Also for tires over 15% bigger.
Again check with authorities on any mods.

There are more and more participants on the
forum who do not know about the
Search Function.....so we have to be a bit tolerant.
Tyres and batteries are the most important items on a vehicle and because there is such a variety of both products, consumers are unsure of what to buy. We all want a tyre that can do 100,000 clicks and a
battery that lasts 10 years. And most
tyres used are for recreational purposes and are invariably of the wide, tubeless variety. Therefor there is a lot of insecurity about
tyres.
I take a middle of the road view on
tyres. I run splits and buy
tyres with an All Terrain pattern like Desert Duelers and an 8 ply rating. I hope to get 40,000km from the
tyres when I know that it will cost me another $1000 to replace the five.
If get get better distances from the
tyres I am happier. If these
tyres do not perform well then I will look to another brand next time.
I normally skip the tyre questions when they appear as they are of no interest to me.

Willem, I run the same
tyres and am wondering how you find them working on sand? Also what patches do you use....don't tell me you make your own from tree sap!

its my simple understanding that on sand, the chunkier the tread, the quicker you can bog down. What works well on mud is probably exactly the opposite of what you want on sand.
That said, I'm running Bridgestone Dueller ATs on my 88 patrol and have never had a problem on sand, but I always let the pressures down sooner rather than after I get stuck.

Truckster, I agree, but first:
Do Hiclones make any difference?
What is better, Landcruiser or Patrol.
I am thinking of getting an Engel, is it better than
Waeco?
Do you think as a nation we should get over ANZAC day or keep the tradition?
Bridgestone VS Cooper?

Truckster,
I also have a little sigh when i see the same questions being asked all the time, but i still read them. The other thing i do (normally) is let it be and not waste my time replying!!
But take this into account: What if someone Buys,
waeco instead of engel, coopers instead of bfs or Toyota instead of Nissan and tells everone how good it is, only to have it break a few months later.
Now if some newbie uses the
search engine to look up some of those products and hears nothing but good about it (from someone who's product has let them down a few months later) how will they get updated advice if the questions can only be asked once.
Thats why i think people will keep on asking those same questions, TO GET THE LATEST INFO, NOT INFO FROM 3 MONTHS AGO!!!
Cheers

Truckster some people are pretty rude to you here but you have a point. Not many people actually know how to use
search functions and they are probably the rudest here. I have a Google
search capability straight from my browser to increase the power of my computer on the internet.
David has asked in his programming that people
search before they post. It is apparent they don't most of the time. It is good to do so as they then can refine their question to the point where they get the more specific information to help them.
I find this
search engine to be very useful to see where some, including myself go off on the tangent.

you should know me by now but what I think of people LMAO!
Just ignore the stupid rags with no idea.
All I was doing was tellin people theres a
search function, but if they are too stupid to realise this, its obvious their IQ isnt up with the
sandstone block yet!

This thread has now probably been done to death, but since I was one of those who started off the bitching, I will have one last go.
Truckster, I have indeed done a
search using "Truckster". Despite what you said in your initial post to this thread, I was not at all shocked to find that most of your posts are condesecnding and full of drivel. I suppose we should all be so pleased that you sometimes deign to descend down to the level of us mere mortals
And as for accusing people who don't agree with you of being stupid, well that just takes the cake. even my eight year old knows better than to respond like that.
Perhaps the old adage applies in your case: "It is better to remain silent and let people think you are foolish than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

If you REALLY think I give ableepin life what other people think, your are slower than you sound.
If I decended down to your level, I would go underground.
So your 8 yr old knows better, but read your own paragraph above that one, where you state decend down to your level. You cant even get it all straight can you?
Again, what you think of me is of no concern to me. Think what you like. DILLIGAF.
