Totally agree with the butcher at
Georgetown. Absolutely beautiful meat at unbelievably low prices, fill the fridge there. Also I would like to recommend camping at Tallaroo hot springs, a working cattle station with great camping facilities and a great hot spring swimming pool.

Chilligoe is a must. Give yourself a full day to do the
cave tours, ie. arrive day 1, tour day 2 and depart day 3.
Depending on time, one option would be to go via
Croydon stopping at Undara for a look through the Lava Tubes,
onto Mt Garnet then follow the old gold rail line route North to Lappa, then
onto Chilligoe,
North from Chilligoe to
Laura via Palmerville station,
from
Laura to
Cooktown via Battle
camp
Lakefield NP is another spot worth a look
