Uppy, why would you need dual batteries? You're not aloud to take beers camping anymore, so you won't need the fridge, you can't play music, so you won't need power for your car stereo, you're not aloud to run bright lights, just hold a cigarette lighter over your baked beans, oh hang on your probally not aloud to smoke, so you won't have a ciggarette lighter.... Oh sht, what about the dogs and the kids?! Oh stuff it, let's just cancel the camping trip for this weekend eh? We are obviously way too much of a hinderence on society. I'll just stay at home and watch the tv and the kids can play the xbox.
Sorry for the sarcasim, but you know what? We are going camping this weekend and will have a bloody good time and so will the kids!

there's a couple of redarc isolators on ebay right now but at the price they will go for plus postage better to pop down to the auto elec for one. Search on battery isolator.

I'll sus one out for you, my bro built mine from a Jaycar kit and it works bloody good, however it's a bit of friggin around getting him to solder them together as he is always busy, I'll have a look today and give you some options.

I emailed you awhile ago with the details about my installation. If you didnt get it let me know. I chased around looking at different options, limited by the area available in the EFI model. The best I could do was fit a 8 inch cradle on the back righthand firewall (in front of passenger). A 12 inch cradle just wont go without major work. I had it fitted by TJM, and its working fine.
cheers

Peter,
I'm just looking at the same situation with my 4.2 EFI as I dont want to move the air inlet etc but was curious to know how you find the smaller battery with regards to load/charge/draw time etc.
Also, did the TJM tray fit directly to the existing vacant bolt holes etc?
Thanks in advance for any info. Rather than clog up the post you can email me at perth96gq@yahoo.com.au if that helps.
Regards,
Keith

PS: Uppy, sorry to slip this one in on your post.

Uppy,
I'm investigatiing the dual battery setup and hope to get something sorted in the next week or two. No worries with catching up, next couple of weekends are shot to bits though. I'm in the northern suburbs. By the way it's a '96, LWB, 4.2 EFI, Auto.

Keith

Uppy, jeff
I fitted the 8 inch only. My current battery is only 55amp, but because I do a lot of one night stops rather then basecamp, its sufficient. The guys at TJM tried to find a bigger battery at the time. The system is the IBS, its a bit of a "rolls royce" (about $750 fitted)system, but I had a number of particular requirements, and it met them. This system is also transferrable to my new 4.2 intercooled tray (one day!!!)
I couldnt use the diesal tray as it sits right where the square air filter sits.
In the next few days I shall email you photos if you like
chhers
Peter
