For all the weather buffs (didn't want to say freaks) Birdsville had an unusual phenomenom yesterday - 0.6mm of precipitation and then the temperature plummeted (as it does in the desert) so we had a gidyea fire last night and this a.m. have a complete whiteout - FOG. Be funny really but we've had more moisture out of the dripping fog than the rain. It's all we've had since Christmas sowe think it's great. Bob Y. from up north messaged to say they've had heaps. Good news.

The country is going to look pretty good then. Should be great for all the travellers mid year. Do people get stuck in Birdsville when the roads close?

Yeh, Guys, there's a few here now. Plenty to do though. The road north to Bedourie/Boulia should be open today and we're just waiting to hear on the Birdsville Track, should be the same or another day.

Great Curry eating weather....

Anyone for another megacino?

Hi Karsten

Would be back there in a flash for another Megacino - and I had the sticky date pudding and ice-cream - free with my Exploroz card (and of course the purchase of a print!)

Reminds me that I will have to get that print framed. Is still rolled up in it's tube.

Ruth,
I was hoping to see you for the first time on Monday but it looks like the road is cut so we have to impliment plan C for our holidays. Starting from Maryborough (Qld) we leave Saturday for two weeks in and around the Flinders Ranges with a little excursion up some of the desert tracks. Maybe next year I will get to see you and Birdsville.

Only road closed now is a query on the Birdsville Track - and that should open shortly today - as Karsten says above. Beautiful now - the fog lifted about 1/2 hour ago. Clear and sunny, light breeze - temp has risen to 20 deg from about 7 this early a.m. Safe travels.

Or maybe that was the first normal weather in 10,000 years, used to be inland sea, then fog was the norm, hey think about !!

That's great Jeff. I'll make sure Wolfie & I get some practice in before then. Although I'm fire-stick-less at the mo, will have a few new ones up and running by the time you're here!

Will keep the fire stoked.....
