G'day

1997 Discovery TDi auto

The ABS warning light operates about 70% of the time, and my my friendly Landrover agent has quoted "about $1,200" to replace the vacuum pump and a wheel sensor.

This seems steep to me. Can I take it to a normal" brake repair shop and be sure they'll know what's wrong & how to fix it (for considerably less?)

PS I'm not sure, but I don't think that the ABS is effected when the light is on.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, I'll have a look, but I suspect that with 150k on the clock, any recall claim will be well and truly DIShonoured!!

Rob,

It is probably a wheel sensor thats gone haywire causing the problem.

Try ringing Peter.(see attached Doc)

Peter Snieg,

I have access to be able to refurb the old sensors,
pretty much rebuild them for a changeover.
If u need anymore info ring me directly on 03 96841027.
Saving at least 75%or more..
Disco 2 changeover is around $275.00

This happened to me twice.

It cost me $800 on each ocassion.

Wish I knew someone who coud refurbish back then.

Bottom line I became sick and tied of the constant high cost repairs and sold the bugger. I bought an 80 series landcruiser turbo diesel which was three years older and $8k more expensive.

The landcruiser is absolutely fantastic.

I now know why Land Rovers are so cheap on the 2nd hand market.
