H, i I'm planning to take a 2.7L petrol hi-lux Xtra cab across the Simpson (French line East to West) this July. I have a 130l long range tank. How much extra fuel do I need to have enough to allow for side trips. I have room for 6 jerrys, giving me total of 250l. Do I need all this as I'm keen to save some space.

AS a guide I used 115l Oodnadatta to Birdsville - mainly French Line with a few detours - 700 km total in a petrol Prado V6. It has 159l tanks and I carried one jerry. It's probably a bit more economical than yours but may be a guide for you. Good luck!!
