Pesty,
Yeh, I know.....it'll be like the axe that my grandfather had for all of his life. He replaced the handle a dozen times and bought 4 new heads over the years; but it was still the same axe!!!!!LOL
The Nissan WILL last 40 years, it just may not LOOK the same or SOUND the same.

parking in an air tight compartment somewhere. Probably a waste of space though.

Why did we have to let the frogs buy the patrol factory....see what happens...they go artistic on us.
My GU is going to have to last a while now....but that won't be hard will it guys? I've seen more GQ's
on the road and dirt than 60 series cruisers....ducking for cover :P

Toy have nothing that looks like a 4wd, Mitz dont anymore, Nissan if this is true now dont, Disco's are ghey, Holden ford mazda etc all crap, Jesus, HELP!!!
What about the IBEX ??
http://www.ibex4x4.co.uk
The defender may look like its done 20 tufftruck challanges when its got 0klms in the show room, but its also $30k overpriced for what it is, and the pi$$ poor finish on them, looks like Mundine. Theres no more comfort in them than a series 1!

had a manual landcruise and a manual hilux, now have an auto Disco and will never go back! to be fair, there's a few times a manual would have been helpful (such as engine braking down an incline) but for the majority the auto cruises thru the dunes and sand. if i need a gear, i manually throw the gearbox to the right gear and leave it there to get more revs. just like a manual, without the clutch.

The first pic the vehicle is only just on the ramp and the bottom of the door is about 2 foot offf the ground, looks a bit odd BUT the second pic the little plastic filler thingo on the rear door next to the spare is Nissan and the console is definately the current series cup holders, looks authentic to me,,,,BUt NAW,, Nissan are very conservative, they wouldn't do that to us!! would they???? Maybe they need a reason to leave the serious 4x4 market!! Now that would make sense.. that monstrosity should ease them out of the market!!! Michael

yer I noticed the cupholder too, you STILL can't fit two travel mugs in them, at least if you only have one in there now it doesnt fall over, I retrofitted by 2001 series 1 with the new holder, way to go.
by the way I like the new look, the chrome is lovely and would look good passing a Toyota anyday

I reckon the pics are real, if thats whats coming for a brand new model, poor old Renault must be doing it tough, using the same console. Even the rear doors look the same, probably just a re-skin. What happened to the brand new vehicle??(the Titan concept would be good for Oz). That means no more leg room and general cabin space that is desperately needed if you are more than 5' 9" tall. If thats the case, Nissan will be really lagging behind, not that there is to much wrong with the current GU. Toyota are probably already doing sales projections based on these pics,(and smiling) oh well we will have to wait and see. I really hope they get it right and start giving the cruiser a run for its money.. Michael

Hey Truckster, I was really thinking about 2006, a whole new vehicle as with the cruiser. I wasnt thinking this could be an update, But looking at your pics maybe you are right, i really never thought they would do body changes such as tail lights at such a late stage with as little as 18 months to go. I reckon that huge front bumper is actually a 2 man canoe, you just unclip and paddle away. Maybe Nissan are much smarter that you think.. best regards Michael

Well Michael, if you get the cupholder from Berwick Nissan, its $44 and only comes in the "lighter" shade of grey that matches the GUIII Patrols.
If you get it from Warrnambool Nissan, its $31 and it comes in the grey that matches the 2000/2001 Patrol trim. I got mine from there thankyou.
I reckon the cabin space in the GU is fine and I am a tad larger than 5'9".

Where were you in '92????
The same objections were made to the GQ update with its plastic side panels.
And again in '97 with cries of "its gone soft"
And 'yota people were equally scathing of the 80 and the 100
Take the pics for what they are - a spec for the middle east, not Oz. Ours will be slightly different but more like we are used to.
Just look at a M-E spec commodore or magna and see how different they look to ours.
What a bunch of luddites and conservatives you all are! I'll reserve my judgement (and my chequebook) until I see one here in Oz.
Andrew
ps Of course it still has low range and live axles
pps The manual shift auto was released with the 4800 engine a couple of years ago

Hi Pesty,
I saw it in the yard tonight. All is in readiness for tomorrow from the vehicle point of view. The hold up could be the paperwork for the leasing which has to be signed by my employer before Toyota Finance will release the money to the dealer.
I sent the paperwork up to Head Office in
Sydney on Monday and it has to be signed by the Director of Human Resources. Apparently they have got it but all calls get answered with "When we get to it". We'll see how it goes.
Toyota dealer is all ready to go. Can't fault their service so far!
Vehicle looks magnificent. Alloy bar is on, windows are tinted and it has been buffed to a fine shine. I touched it and left a fingerprint and felt almost guilty!!
Now to see how it drives..........
Cheers
