How often should the fuel filter on a 2H be changed.( I don't have any problems, and I know about draining the water trap should the light come on).

When I had a 2H powered cruiser I'd get in the habit of draining the sedimenter/water trap every couple of weeks as they do and will rust out if the water is left in there. Depending on where you are refuelling from (drums, farm tank etc) you can probably get away with changing fuel filters every 10k if buying fuel from reputable servo's or less if refilling/operating in dirty conditions. A restricted/blocked fuel filter can creep up on you as you don't notice the drop in performance till you change the filter. I sometimes went 20k between changes but this was rare.

When I had my old 60 Series with a 2H motor I changed the filter once a year; however, using genuine filter from Toyota was extremely expensive so I used the Ryco/Valvoline brands from Supercheap, about half the price.

With my 80 Series I have a Lucas Cav adaptor (about $140 initially) and change the filter every oil change at 10000 km. A replacement filter for them is about $8 - $10.

Hi all.

I re-routed my plumbing so that the Lucas/Cav became the primary filter and the original the secondary filter. I now change the Lucas at every recommended period and both every second recommended period.

It works for me and there is a good saving of $$

Chris,
A bit expensive maybe, but i change my fuel filter every 5K along with the oil and air filter and do an oil change at the same time. HJ75 2H. 328,000 K'S. I use the Valvoline ones from Super Cheap.
Cheers,
Bros.
