G'day,
I just picked up one of our ITD Couriers that had a Daikin installed by Opposite Lock today and seemed fine. Pulled into the bottelo arfter a 40km drive on the Hwy and released the clutch (in neutral) and noticed a rattling in the tranie regeion that was definatly not there when I took it in this morn. A clutch kit was installed.......So spicket bearings, thruster etc and flywheel was machined.
It's rattling only when its in neutral and clutch is released and stops when depressed.
What have these whackas at OL done?!

Any thoughts on the possible cause of this "rattle" would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Had clutch replaced in my Triton about 60,000 kms ago & new bearings in the gear box too. Saw it done as I was the helper.
Gearboxes in these rattle in neutral or is it the thruster, doesnt seem to matter as its all working perfectly after that time.
Suspect it may be the gearbox really as used to have a terrific little Volvo 360
with rear DeDion gearbox which specified ATF fluid. It rattles something terrible at times so put in some Penrite 10 or 15w gear oil & it stopped.
Maybe try a different oil in the box too!

I took it in today and waited around for 6 hours while they replaced a thrust bearing that didn't even need to be replaced! The rudeness of the people there was beyond me. Arfter they spent 6 hrs of my time pi$$ing about the rattle is still there they are telling me it's the gear box rattling. The rattling wasn't there before the worn clutch was replaced and now they are trying to shaft me.
I'm so heved about this! Then the boss came out and said......Owh thats just normal. Bloody unbelivable!
It's not right and I wish I'd taken it to the mechanics we normaly use in 20/20 hindsight.
OL Ballina............Rude and obiously very dodgy.
