I am searching around for the best price on a spare wheel carrier for a 1998 75 series troopie. I currently have the spare on the roof and I do not think it is a good Idea, they are quite heavy. I do not want to use the standard door carrier either as I am sure it will eventually damage the hinges.
Does anyone know of a place to get a spare whell carrier / replacement bumper at a good price?
Cheers

Peter,
Depends what you call a "good price"........
I bought an Opposite Lock dual wheel carrier rear bar about 2 years ago. All up it was about $1,700- (It was a certain amount for the bar itself and then the 2 swing arms were on top of that).
I priced the same set-up from Kaymar at the time and it was $2,700- for their bar and 2 swing arms.
I'm happy with the quality, fit etc.

G'day There
Gave to agree with Roachie. I have a twin pivot Kaymar rear bar (vehicle came with it). When I bought it the rear bar had only one of the swing away arms. I recently bought the other one - it cost almost $600!!!! Kaymar do may a good product - and I'm very happy with it - but you sure pay through the nose!
Cheers
Dave

Spare tires on proper door mounts have lasted years on most 4wds ...
Hinges are only $100, so mount it back on the door and save a 1000's on buying a rear bar/mount system like Kaymar, and enjoy the extra accessories you buy with those 1000's!!!

My Landcruiser has used the door carrier for 16 years with 31 or 33 tyres. No noticeable sag,I just have to grease the latch every 6 months or so.
$2700 would buy 13.5 sets of door hinges
