Peter, one spot you can try is Stockton Lake about 5km sth. east of Collie. Free Camping with pit toilets. Bush setting. Popular during the summer for water sports. Used to be a coal mining void that is now filled with water. Look up the web on Stockton Lake Collie for more info. Cheers.

Peter most camping outlets will sell you a copy of fee camping in WA. THis has a very extensive list of camping spots for most of WA. If you want to camp near Perth do what the backpackers do and stop in any parking spot in and around Freo.

Enjoy

One of the best sources of both 4WD treks and free camping I found, along with the free camping in WA, is the 4WDriver magazine or their website www.western4wdriver.com.au which provide trek notes for the 4WDriver and any camping spots.
