Hi All,
I have a 2001 Nissan Patrol wagon ZD30 which has had the head changed on it. Now the engine number on the head is incorrect to what is on the rego papers. Can anyone tell me where the engine number is located on the engine block? Nissan Australia and two nissan dealers can only tell me that it is on the drivers side of the motor but I can't see it anywhere. A more specfic location would be great so as i can get my car REGISTERED.
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
The engine number is stamped on the RIGHT hand side of
the block looking from the front of the truck, more or less behind the alternator.
Cheers,
John.

Hi
John, Good to see your name here finally, and also to see that Alan Mai did very
well in the 2004 Outback Challenge. Regards Geoff Barby

There is a number on the passenger/front side of the head which is meant to be the same number that appears on the engine block. The head on my Patrol was replaced so there is a different number there now. I purchased the car second hand and registrated the car in Victoria. It was from the same dealer that had sold it new and they know it's history. I have moved to NSW and to get it registed they want to see the engine number that is on the Victorian rego papers. You would think Nissan could tell me where it is but they can't.

WHen I took
mine to Vicroads from NSW, they had a book, in that book, they had the position of the engine #'s on each engine made.
The RTA doesnt have a similar thing?
Also another option is to go to a Nissan dealer and get them physically to SHOW you on a new 3.0...
They would have to know to register cars. Telling you front right or rear left etc is just lazy pricks.
