Can anyone recommend a good transmission specialist in FNQ as our transmission has failed as we were heading up gentle Annie hill east of Ravenshoe.
Many thanks
Shaun and Sue

Can't recommend any tranny firms in that area but did a Google and found these few mentioned in the Tablelands area.

A search in Cairns area might be more fruitful, and it's only about an hour 'n half away from where you might be. Hope you get something sorted quickly.

That's okay, Shaun & Sue, hope Humpback's advice works out for you.

Don't know if you have time for any touristy things while the tranny is sorted, but have a few recommendations if you do.

We were up that way in June and had one day trying lots of different venues. Went to the cheese 'n chocolate factory, then Tolga Pub for a counter lunch. Had a look at Tolga Woodworks, then Mt Uncle Distillery and finished off with afternoon smoko at the CoffeeWorks in Mareeba.

After coming from the droughted expanses of western Qld, the Tablelands are really good therapy.:-)

Good luck,
Bob

Hi Shaun and Sue
Sorry to hear about your transmission, there is a guy in Cairns who knows F Trucks back to front,he serviced my Efy when i was in Cairns and did a great job.
I rang him this morning to check if he could do the job he said he could but they are a very expensive gearbox.
This is his number Lightning Automotive 0740351124.
Good Luck
Humpback

I can tell you..
in albury/wodonga gearbox tranny rebuild on a 75series box..
they all charge a minimum 4k.
one ring to melb or newcasle shop..
a saving of a thousand dollars AT LEAST.
dont be afraid to send it a bit further by freight...you could save ALOT
cheers

Other thing to remember. ..
IS if they only give 12mnths and 20k warranty...
And its Void if a "turbo" fitment to N/A diesel such as a 2h...
And yet another guy can stand by his workmanship and offer a 12mnth warranty with UNLIMITED KMS.....
And warranty a turbo moded engine AND STILL be a thousand dollars cheaper than the bloke above.....
your going to go with someone offering a unlimited 12mnth warranty.
PAYS TO LOOK AROUND and see the tradesman who stands by his work with such a awesome warranty
