Good Morning all travellers,
I am Interested in your comments from people that have travelled the Holland track, whether or not it would be advisable to take a caravan down this track. A couple of people that I have spoken to reckon they have taken their trailers up the track and cant see why you couldn't take a van.
I have never done this trip so I am interested in what your learned opinions are.
thank you for sharing,
Broodie H3

Broodie
There are sections that are very narrow with harsh foliage. EG fold in the mirrors on a 79 series landcruiser which is a narrow vehicle alone and foliage still obstructs.
I have towed an ultimate camper through stands of salmon gums (the ones with the shiney red bark) the track winds through these stands and your length may bring you undone.
Living is a journey,it depends on where you go !

I agree with Pinko. I think you would wreck a caravan on the Holland track. We took our camper trailer along it a few years ago and had to be careful on a couple of the sharper bends. The Holland way however is a different story. Its been designed with caravans in mind.

Hi

Haven't done the Holland Track, we came down the Holland Way from Coolgardie.

I have heard of people that have taken small vans down the track and ripped off awnings and done other superficial damage.

No doubt someone will have further information.

Rowdy

The John Holland Way runs from Broomehill to Coolgardie and is meant for 2wd. From Coolgardie you go straight down the Victoria Rock Road to the Hyden Road. You pass the turnoff to the Holland Track were it meets the Victoria Rock Road..

We did from Coolgardie to Hyden in October 2010 with a small offroad van when it was dry. No problem, but the southern end of the Victoria Rock Road, before the Hyden Road, is clay and you could see deep ruts where some people had difficulties. From Coolgardie to past Victoria Rock was good gravel, after that sand but nothing to worry about until you hit the clay, but it would only be a problem in the wet.

The Holland Track runs from the Hyden Norseman Road to Victoria Rock Road and is meant for 4wd.

A Google search will bring up some good info.

Regards
Rowdy

Broodie, I thoroughly recommend this publication Holland Track and Cave Hill Woodlines. We used it as a guide for our tour around the Holland Track, Holland Way, and the interesting history of the Woodlines.

My Blogs from 2007 cover this tour (without caravan). We did not complete the Holland Track due to concerns about the size of our F250.
