Plenty highway and onto birdsville

Travelled the Plenty from The Gemtree to Jervois the other day and it was a good dirt highway

Are you referring to the Hay River track or the Plenty to Boulia and down to Birdsville?

Drove the plenty all the way from gemtree then up to mt isa via Urandangie. Standard dirt road, a few patches of average generally good though. Just watch out for the local constabulary doing RBTs. No jokes!
