I have looked at ways to get from
Cairns airport to
Port Douglas.
So I will not have my own car. All I can find is $70 per person return, does anyone know of a cheaper way?
Thanks
Wato

Wato,
Port Douglas is 66kms from the Airport, about an hours drive ..
Curious as to what would you expect to pay.
It is a glorious road trip along some pristine coastline and
views and no train line

What do you want for nothing It costs more than that to go to
Brisbane airport from parts of the city. We live 40 mins north of the airport and the fare is $130 ONE WAY for the car and up to 4 people.

I don't expect not to pay a reasonable price. I can travel 300 k's to
Melbourne and back for $23 (that is a full fare, no concessions) by train.

wato, bit of an unreasonable comparison - travel the 300k's to
Melbourne by bus and compare the prices. Comparing trains & buses is like apples and oranges.
Personally, $35 each way for a 60km trip seems fairly reasonable.

wato35 - Here's the full list (below) of transport options for travel between
Cairns airport and Pt Douglas.
There will be variations in the cost of travel depending on whether you need to be dropped off at a private address or a major accommodation location.
The cost is less if you are being delivered to a major accommodation facility.

Thanks to Ron and Tony for your help.
To the others, I only asked a question because I am not from the area and had no idea.
Thanks for trying to put me down. Glass half empty people.
I thought this

If you have booked some accommodation at
Port Douglas ring them and see what they advise.
Yep. Not cheap, if using "other" transport".

Wato,
You'll get your money's worth; the drivers of those small and large buses for that matter, that drive that Captain
Cook Highway are all rally drivers to us who come from the state of no hills and straight roads.
There are what are called turnouts on the winding roads in FNQ, to let the faster drivers past and the buses are the faster drivers.
Enjoy your holiday up in FNQ and don't worry about the knockers on this
forum.
Regards
Rob J
