Folks as you know we made massive change late yesterday, the culmination of 9 weeks of solid full-time development. The worst part there was bug in the
Forum Read/Update system which made all the cool work look wrong. I have just published the fix for this (
well it is still uploading as I write this but will be loaded before I press Submit).
The system will now show you exactly down to the followup that you have not read. So you will not have to open all Replies (as it appears at the moment). The little animated Circle will lead you to the exact sections you have not read yet. So if it shows Updated then there will be something in the thread you have not read, open the thread and the animated circle will show you which reply or replies you have not read. Open the Reply and the unread followups will show a comments icon (In writing this I believe it should be the same animated circle, so may change this later).
This updated status function is linked to your profile so no matter what device you are using if you are logged on your Updated statuses will be fully synced.
Anyway have a play with this now corrected (what I wanted it to do version of the system). It will make much more sense now, I believe.

Thanks David, yes, that's better.
I like the clean look and I like the way it presents on mobile devices.
But, along with many others, I think it needs a button to open all replies in a thread. If you want to contribute to a busy thread that you haven't been to before, you have to click on every reply to open up all the contributions to see if you have anything new to add. That may be 10 or 20 or more clicks and scrolling, depending on how many replies there are.
A single button to do that would answer 95% of the critics. Is it do-able?
Apart from that, I think it's great.
Cheers

Frank,
New button is now loaded a three click function - click once opens un-read, click again opens all, click again closes all open.

Perfect, David, thank you. It works a treat.
Someone in another thread asked if it could have a choosable default mode, the setting to be stored in the user's profile. That would be neat.
As others have noted too, the spell checker seems to be missing.
Also, any chance of an edit button, perhaps time limited, or in the case of an opening post, disabled by a reply, or in the case of a Reply, disabled by a Follow-up?
Cheers

...... or in the case of a Follow-up, disabled by the next Follow-up.
Such a system would allow posters a brief period to correct errors, but once a Reply or Follow-up has been posted, no chance to alter a post and change the context and make irrelevant following posts or follow-ups.
Logic seems simple, but probably not the coding.
I have no doubt you're up for it, David, if only for the challenge :-)
Cheers

That seems to have fixed the issue David, working very
well indeed.
I like the format, simple to use, quick to use with the ability to see what has been viewed/read or added to since my last look.
Its working
well on iPad and iPhone with screen size adjustment good.
On my desktop with Windows 10 and running MS Edge displayed on 23 inch wide screen monitors the site does not open to full screen width.
Not that its an issue as the page is so much cleaner and clearer to view.
All up its very good,
well done.
