Hello Group...

Iam trying to find out if I could run air conditioner like the one of the portables from Kogan or window type from portable generator?
If yes, what wattage I will need?

Kind regards
Jerry

Hi Jerry ,yes they will be ok ,just make sure that you have a large enough one to handle all your requirements ,plus a bit .The inverter generators are the best as most modern equipment require pure sine wave power .

The problem with aircons is the surge current to get them started could be two, three or
more times greater then the run current. I would suggest a soft start aircon unit, you'll need to look
at the specs of the airconditioner to work out what size genset you require.

Thank you guys
The problem is...it is impossible to find out in specs of the aircon units what power is required.
Example being Kogan unit

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-reverse-cycle-3-1-portable-air-conditioner-9000-btu/

What genset will be required?

cheers
Jerry

Hi Jerry if you look on the specs for that unit it is 950W electrical input ,but because that unit it only evaporative ,a 1kva would probably be ok ,as it is only a fan and pump ,but if you need any other power needs go bigger

We need to know the input watts of the A/C...else refrigeration watts may suffice
