Permatex no 3

Lex has the best suggestion. Silicone sealants are not desirable on engine gaskets because they can produce lumps of surplus silicone when the parts are tightened up. These lumps of silicone can then fall off and end up in the lube system of the engine, blocking oil pump suction screens, and other small oil passageways, if they get through the pump.
A non-hardening gasket cement such as Permatex No 3 is a good gasket sealant because it doesn't produce undesirable additions to the lube system, it resists high temperatures, and it stays as flexible as silicone.
Make sure gasket sealing surfaces are clean (scrubbed with a non-metallic scourer - not an abrasive cloth), and wipe them down with a suitable cleaning solvent to remove any oiliness before spreading the gasket cement on.

Cheers, Ron.

HI ,
A suggestion ,if u have any bolts that go into the water jacket [wet hole ] use Holden head stud sealer . {stops water coming up the bolt and protects it from corrosion ]

Use goo and paper gasket together, the Permatex No 3 is not for gasket-less sealing.
