Perhaps we have missed something (we have been travelling for a couple of months!) but what has happened to the
forum? Why is it now in kindergarten font? Why is it so difficult to read a whole thread? Perhaps there is a previously published convincing explanation that we have missed. We would be pleased if someone could direct us to this. The
forum now seems to be extremely user unfriendly.

I have to say I grappled with it for a bit and wasn't all that enamoured with the new look. I was confused and bewildered, acommon problem with us old folk. I was never going to walk away but at first I didn't use it as much as I did pre change.
Having persisted I am coming to terms with the new layout and format. I can't say I like it as much as the previous version yet, but it will grow on me I'm sure.
I read about the reasons for the change that Michelle gave and I can cope with them. To be honest I guess I am just more resistant to change these days. I don't regard it as user unfriendly just different. The content is still all there and I really like the plain and simple font.

Well, it's OK I guess, or at least I'm becoming accustomed...........BUT...........
How do you now 'un-watch' Watched Threads ????
It seems the only way is to open each Watched thread and click again on the 'Watch' button. A slow and clumsy way to deal with a number of watched threads at a time.
The old way was to go to the list of watched threads on one's Homepage and simply click them off one-after-the-other.
Currently, on the Homepage, selecting '
Forum Watched' brings up the full list of Threads on watch but I can find no way to delete any from that list. Clicking on the "Watched" notation simply opens the Thread and clicking on the "Clear" button at the top simply returns to the
Forum Index.

I have just had to clear out my own watched threads. I just used the "Clear All" button as all in my list were all achived and I didn't want to bother keeping them watched.

Well Michelle, could you please send me a "Clear All" button because all I have on my Watched List page is a "Clear" button (see below) and when I press that, all it does is take me back to the
Forum Index page and does not clear any Watched Threads! Besides, I don't want to clear all watched threads, I want to clear selected watched threads, possibly half of those in my list as we were once able to do. Pleeese.
p.s. I'm using Safari browser on a Mac. Might that be the reason?

CLEAR BUTTON

Hmm that is strange. I clicked "Clear" and it removed them all from my watched list.

The new format is brilliant in my view.
Clean, clear and concise.
I can see what I want in the way I want, no need to troll through the whole thread.
Can scan the topics that have been changed since I last looked and select those I am interested in.
I reckon David has done a top job with this new format.

Im wondering why when you post a reply to a thread that was posted a few days back why that post doesnt move up to the top of the list .It appears to stay in line of date of original post which can be many pages back and remain unread by many readers. Cheers.

Go to settings and change your preference to show thread by date rather than thread number.
Then any additions made to a thread will take it back to the top.

Sorry, meant to say, "search and options" in the
grey bar at the top of the
forum.
Then change the setting to display by thread number or date.

As with all changes (the same as moving house!), it takes a while to grasp where everything is in the new setup.
You get used to it. I wasn't enamoured initially with the new setup, but it's quite satisfactory in operation, once you've used the new format for a while.
I think you will find the site change came about, due to the need for the site to accommodate the wide range of communication devices used today, and the proliferation of mobile smartphones in use that require a different and simpler format, as compared to a desktop or laptop.
Cheers, Ron.
