I wish you the best of luck.
The now closed
Turtle Sands caravan park would be a good place to open up. Camping is allowed their for group bookings but costs more than caravan parks in the area.

Omaa
Are you able to tell the
forum what the current stance of the council is and what you propose – it will help give some context around your meeting for those with an interest.
Cheers, Baz – The Landy

You need to look at the Mayor's background. If he has any connection with caravan parks you are wasting your time. If he is pro small business you are in with a chance. Good luck you are fighting for all of us and commonsense.

You may suggest he ask North Burnett Regional Council about how their low cost camping is going at Biggenden, regarding the amount of money coming into the town.
The council runs the caravan park and I would think they control the $5 a night self contained camping at the old rail yard.
They have a good van park $20 a night and it competes with the $5 a night spot in town. The park also has 3 cabins outside the fence for truck drivers /pilots and a large
parking area for those trucks and oversize.
Big thumbs up to the council.

What was a Council caravan park in Murgon, has now been made a
free camp, and the number of campers there a couple of months ago was unreal. The info centre placed a tin on the wall of the loo for campers to put there receipts in, so they could judge what sort of money was being spent in the town, the report i got from the info centre was that they couldn't believe what was spent, all because the
camp was FREE.

The B(l)undaberg Regional Council with Mayor Malfunction is the largest waster of money in the state, It takes 5 staff 3 hours to mow a 20m dia roundabout and has a staff of around 850, the majority doing very little. It takes a crew of 6, 8 working days to construct a driveway crossover. Our rates are $3300pa for a normal house block + water.

I would like to know what is being asked for in the meeting. If it is more self contained camping sites then the representation will be on behalf of a minority of the camping/caravaning community. The more areas that are designated as self contained the more the "struggle street" component, which is by far the greatest proportion, are disadvantaged. It also discriminates against all people who
camp out of their vehicle in tents and those with camper trailers. I can't understand why this sector of the community are not screaming their heads off about what is going on.
Cheers,
Kevin

The subject of being self-contained did not even arise! All we were asking for was closer overnight/ 2 nights stays close to town with a small charge. The meeting with Mal was informative & he agrees that the area between the 2 bridges would be perfect.
Toilets, coin showers, another
dump point collection box for shopping dockets, someone to collect fees.
To get things moving it has to be with a majority vote at a council meeting & at the moment thagt is not happening.

Informative meeting with Mal this afternoon. Things are in the pipeline & he thinks, as we do, that beside the river would be a perfect spot. Basically needs a majority vote at meetings for go ahead.
