When did Nissan change to GUIII 3.0 TD?

According to www.redbook.com.au it was October 2001 (GUIII MY2002).

I'm sure that I've seen later years than this advertised as GUII models. What's the go here - dealers unsure or Nissan continuing with old models for a while?

How do I know if I am buying a GUIII? Does it say it somewhere on the body?

Just a guess, but I know that some people sell their cars and advertise them as the date that they bought the car new instead of whatever the build date is... Can be a big difference... Eg. Car built Feb 2004, sold new Oct 2004....

I think it is late 2002 & definatley 2003 (Build date that is).

Differences include - Alloy wheels as standard & different interior colour as the previous model. There is a plastic cup holder in the console that is installed by Velcro.

There may be differences with the rear lights ?

Alloy wheels as standard for ST models was introduced DURING the Series III

Series 3 have a different indicator and rear tail light

the velcro'd cup holder was introduced as the Unoffical Series IV, which was the same time the intercooler was added to the 4.2

Series III was the intriduction of hte 4800.

Front and rear lights are different in the III to the II.

GUIII has a red lower portion each side of the car and a clear upper section incorporating the reverse light.

The GUII tail lights are mostly red all over except for the reverse light on the left side. There have been some variations to this for some reason but from the GUIII onwards, they are all the same.

On both models they actually do nothing anyway.
