Does anyone at the slightest chance have a diagram of the 79 series radio wiring?

Which 79 series, Beastly? 6 cyl or V8?

Recently swapped original unit on an '02 model to a Sony head unit, without too many dramas.

Hi Bob,
Did you use original speakers?
If not where did you put new speakers.

Cheers

G'day Alan,

Yes I did, though am adding a 2nd pair in the doors to utilise the Sony's 4 channel output.

Few years ago, I replaced the original "in the dash units" as one had had enough. Used 4" units from Jaycar. These speakers seem to handling the extra power okay, and sound is good.

Don't know that I can help you, Beastly, as I've only had my V8 about 5 weeks, and haven't ripped the dash open yet. :-)

Before I started the refit mentioned above I googled "Landcruiser stereo wiring" or words to that effect, and got a couple of options to follow. Think most examples were of 100 series.

Did copy a couple as below:

I found the 2nd image to be the most useful, and colours matched with my '02 model. I had bought numerous Toyota/Sony adapter plugs/looms, but none of them would match properly, so I just slowly soldered & hearshrunk every join. Sounds alright with no distortion at all.

If I can help anymore, yell out,
Bob

See the wiring in mine was already pretty much crap from the time I brought it. It had a proper toyota stereo in it but that never worked :(
