Hi all,
Is there a combination of steel wheel and tyre that will still stay under the front guard on a 2001 78 seies troopy without resorting to the original splits?
I am thinking a 16 x 6 rim with a 235x85x16 BFG A/T KO2.
I may have to fit rubber flares to be legal in NSW.
Thanks, Ian

I turfed the splits and bought "Sunraysia" type wheels, 7" x 16", Ian.
Have always run 235.85R16's on them, but you can go to 265.75R16 as
well. Both these sizes keep the original gearing, give or take a bit. :-)
I put 35mm flares on, but more because of mud being thrown up, rather legality of any over width.
7" Rims & 235.85R16 Bridgestone 697's. '02 79 series L/C

Hi Ian,
Like Bob Y, I also fitted 16" Sunraysia steel wheels to my 2002 Troopy and run LT265/75R16 tyres on them.
The tyre edge was right on the guard edge so I fitted 50mm PVC Flare Moulding from Clark Rubber. More for mud control, but it probably would satisfy inspection. Looks good too!
Currently running Bridgestone Dueller A/T D697's and am very satisfied with their performance. Better performance than the previous Coopers and a helluvalot cheaper too.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas.
We have decided to stick with the 8" Kings rims we have, fit 265x75x16 BFG A/T KO2 and fit flarers to cover it all.
