The only
police officer at
Birdsville, in western Queensland, will retire today after nearly 10 years in the job.

Good on him, and hope his retirement / future health is good for him.
Also hope his replacement is as suited to the place as he was.
Read somewhere once the only time he ever arrested and held anybody was one
young fella who got a bit drunk / rowdy at the races one year.

I always called in for a yarn with Neale when we were in
Birdsville. Found him to a real "salt of the earth" bloke and the source of local and helpful advice. Enjoy your retirement Neale.
