I have just changed the insurance company that covers my 4wd and as a result no longer have the insurance provided roadside service.

I have coverage on another vehicle provided by the NRMA but they are getting a bit expensive for what the provide.

Other than the NRMA are there any other basic roadside service providers in NSW/ACT that are not attached to insurance companies.

Thanks

Garry

Maybe the top NRMA cover is like the top RACV cover in my state - covers all vehicles that you drive, even borrowed, pushbikes and motorbikes. If so it might work out similar cost with more benefits.

Sorry no - only covers the one vehicle.

Really ??
RAA (any cover) membership covers you for whatever you are driving.

Covers the member, not the vehicle.
How would it work interstate if some states were like that ?

Would need convincing, and be VERY surprised, if NRMA or RACV (or other state motoring affiliates) aren't the same as RAA.

RACV Total Care covers the driver and a nominated vehicle. From the RACV website, "With Total Care you’re covered no matter what vehicle you’re driving. You can also nominate a car which is covered no matter who’s driving".

Ah, thanks.
Confirms that a paid membership covers whatever vehicle that party is driving, AND they can nominate a vehicle you own, and that card can be covered by anyone driving it, relative, friend, work colleague, etc.
That is a more normal sort of road service arrangement, however I didn't know about the second part.

Yes I appreciate that auto clubs in other states may apply membership to individuals and cover any car they are driving - but NRMA is restricted to a specific vehicle - that is why I specifically mentioned NSW/ACT in the original post as that is where I live.

I sometimes move my NRMA road service membership around between my vehicles but they do not like it at all and have told me no more than twice a year.

If I could get membership of one of these interstate organisations that cover you and any car you are in using my ACT address that would be great but as far as I am aware you need a local address.

So back to the original question - any one know of a NSW/ACT based road side assist provider that is not the NRMA and is not insurance company attached.

Thanks

Jeez, that is very poor of them !!
How do interstaters get on when needing their services there ?
Guess the cover interstate affiliates members, but not their own ??

Hope you find what you need.
I have Alliance insurance that supposedly has roadside, but wouldn't be without RAA top cover anyway.

Garry,
I think a number RAA members in SA have joined RACV, ( read this from memory on a CF Thread sometime ago) because on the top cover in RACV you can also get Tandem Caravan coverage for a 21ft Tandem van, for anywhere in Oz, to me RAA do not officially cover larger vans for a tug/van breakdown. Please correct me if this is not correct.
