Big River flies

Just got back from a weekend of camping in Big River State Forest (Upper section - Miners Flat). Lovely spot but the flies were relentless! Deadset the worst I have experienced outside of the desert. I've only camped up there once a few years back, but I don't remember the flies being bad then. Just wondering what other people's experiences are - is it a bad spot for flies, or was I just in the wrong place at the wrong time? I would love to go back there but if that's what I can expect every time then maybe not...

Cheers

Was up at Upper Yarra Reservoir on the weekend, the flies were bad there too.

They are everywhere. Warm dry conditions it seems are conducive to them thriving. They aren't too bad around town but I spent a weekend on the Mornington Peninsula recently and they were bad there. I haven't seem them this bad for several years. Bloody El Nino !!

Ditto for Mt Beauty recently. Migrant flies - the outback type that land in your nostril and invite themselves inside!

Try Desert Dwellers Nature's Botanical. Best goop I've found but has to be reapplied regularly.
