Went to the boat show yesterday and we bought a Reefer 100 litre 12/24 volt fridge / freezer with a Danfoz BD-50 unit in it for less than a grand!!!! and it has the 5 / 3 year waranty. Waeco wanted the same dollars for a 50Litre... They also sell 60 litre with the same big Danfos compressor for $899. They are from South Aussie company Refrigeration Research. We got a great buy.

Hi Myke,
Are you sure they have the Danfoss compressor?
If you look at some of the past posts you will see that Reefer and the previous manufacturer prior to them, were using a 240Volt compressor with an inverter. This was heavy on power. If they are now using Danfoss compressors which are 12/24 volt then you have done well....

Cheers

The reason the 100 was so cheap is there is no Demand for them.. In reality, there would be little demand for a 100ltr fridge. Ask Diamond about his, it takes up more space in the back of the GQ than he has!

Where as there is HIGH demand for the 40-60ltr ones. They are more $$...

John,
the brochure we got shows only 3 models. Their 40 was 699$ the 60Lt was 899 and the 100Lt was 999. and that was the normal price because they sell direct with no dealers. We got ours on Fridaybefore stocks ran out, but my mate ordered one and they are sending it freight free.

Going by the rrp it appears you got a pretty deal. As long as you a happy with the purchase I don't think there is any need for everyone else to be so critical. Horses for courses really..... (must be at least a 90 can beast!) lol

Hey Myke.

I borrow my father-in-law's Liemak 50 litre fridge (which is now called a Reefer). Liemak closed downa couple of years back, I think, so someone has obviously started making the identical unit again, and only in the next street from where Liemak was in Mount Barker. Could even be the same people.

From my years with the SA Govt., working in remote areas, and using Engel fridges, this fridge beats the Engel hands down. It seems to have more usable space and a more compact exterior. I had it in the boot of my Falcon when I went to Alice a couple of years back. It performed excellently.

As for the compressor, I was under the impression that they are using a Mitsubishi rotary unit these days. They are pretty good. However, the Danfoss is the best. The company I worked for last used Danfoss exclusively in their refrigerated compressed air dryers and they performed faultlessly all over the world. Danfoss is a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for...

Cheers

Hi LTF

This is a new product they have. The more expensive Mitsubishi power fridges were also on show but too dear for me. But thanks for the confidence boost!!!

Myke

I would almost have put money on the fact you had made a mistake with the Danfoss units in the Reefer, so I called the factory. Apparently they've just added a range of units called DR's to compliment there current range. The new units use the Danfoss compressor, and the 60lt unit has a BD50. There's nothing on their website yet, and the prices are right. Refrigeration Research are only selling the unit direct to the public.

Cheers

My fridgie mate has just had a look in the back of this Reefer100 and it has got a Danfos BD50 in it. He reackons this is a good deal and like we saw at the show also, their smaller 60 litre model is only 899 bucks and they say it has the bigger danfos in it also
