Hello every one and a happy new year to all.
Having just returned from a short trip up the the Central Coast today i noticed a number of vehicles (4X4 and cars) both on the way up and again on the return trip that were towing vans and no towing mirrors fitted.I thought it was a requirement that these mirrors be fitted.I sat behing a V8 cruiser and Jaco Expander out back van from WA for a few K'S and i could not see his mirrors only to see when i passed him he had no towing mirrorsThere was even a van being towed by a 4X4 whos lights on the van were all over the place brake lights on the tug and blinkers came on using left blinker nothing right blinker van tail lights came on.
one would have thought that lights would have been checked b4 moving off.

Just wondering ifs it that common .

cheers

See it all the time. Unfortunately the govt saves lots of money by having speed cameras and not having more police patrols. We all know mirrors are a requirement but many idiots don't think it applies to them. The xmas tree lights are just a result of plain ignorance. It takes 2 minutes to check all lights every time you use the caravan. Myself, I'd be crapping myself if I didn't have decent mirrors or knew the lights were faulty...

cheers

Yes I agree , only really concentrate 0n Radar and Booze Buses .

Need more actual patrols .

Now I have to confess just got booked by fixed Radar last Month . 70 in 60 zone. Now I accept that , but I have to say if it had been a patrol car he would have seen the idiot weaving all over the lanes , I accelerated to get out of the way before a possible collision. Camera does not see him weaving in the lanes of course , only me over the speed limit.

My recent concern , saw a car with a section of pool Fence sitting fully loaded held by Cable ties to the two roof bars. I crap you not

Cheers

Yep, it's amazing what you see driving around. Mazda 626 about 90s model I think, 21 foot old style van, roof rack on the car with tinny on top, outboard motor mounted on the draw bar of the van!

Now if I did that I'd be either dead or booked in the first 200 metres!

Towing mirrors are an accessory as in towing aid, they are not required to be fitted by law in Victoria HOWEVER the law states that a driver, whilst towing a trailer MUST have vision to the rear SO...the vehicle towing a trailer must be able to have vision of what is travelling behind. ps....Horses wear blinkers vehicles have indicators.

Mirrors are required by law in all states regardless of the fitting of rear view cameras. The driver is required to see both rear corners of the trailer.
