Leaving Cape Byron for Steep Point on 16/7/16. Intend most direct track via Cameron Cnr,William Creek, Coober pedal, Anne Beadell, Meekatharra to Steep pt. anybody done it recently.?? Did Anne Beadell Hwy in 2010. Any recent info would be appreciated re permits etc.

Hi Tez, sounds like a great trip and you have the rig to do it. Did ABH in 2013 and its corrugations are up there with the worst. Have you seen the Leyland Bros DVD of their W to E crossing in 1966?..... W

We did it via Dig Tree, Birdsville, Alice Springs, Gary Junction Road, Marble Bar, Mt Augustus to Steep Point mid last year. Good trip.

Hi, Did the AB West to East back in August, WA side of the border was like a highway, but SA side got progressively worse the further into SA we got. The worst section was from Anne's Corner to Tallaringa Well, took us about 8hrs to do 190K's, but we also had a look at both ground zeros. We were towing a camper as well, just really badly corrugated. Great trip though well worth the effort. Great camp spot at Ilkurlka roadhouse, Diesel was $3/lt.
