I know the in-car drawer systems is a well worn topic and I have done a lot of my own research and read all the forums. One thing I am having difficulty with is actually viewing and experiencing the Drifta product. So I thought I would reach out to anyone in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne that has a drawer system to allow me to come and have a look at it please.

Thanks for any help.

G'day, The Drifta site is very comprehensive regarding detail, including video's.
I have the drawers in my FJ Cruiser with nothing but admiration for the design and quality.

As I have done, give them a call after thinking through what you want. They customise to any type or vehicle. They sent me links as well as good advice.

They have posted gear all over the world, so I'm sure Gloucester to Melbourne is a can do.

Cheers

Thanks Dad,

Yes, I have had a look at the site and viewed the videos - it all look quite impressive and most appealing is that they can maximise the amount of space used, but I would just like the opportunity to try them for myself - feel the slides etc.

No worries mate, that's the way to go. There teflon runner with no rattles.
Plenty of Drifta drawers around Newcastle and the Drifta Factory is 2 hours away.

Good hunting

Patrolclimber,

I have drawers that are now about 13 years old, fitted initially to a Prado then moved to a GU4 Patrol.

Made by Offroad Systems from Narellan NSW , mine were a very early set that were custom built to my design, Fridge on ther floor on the left and two drawers one on top of the other on the right and then with storage on both sides around wheel arches. Great setup, light, strong and durable (cannot wear them out). I am going to pull the top cover out and recarpet it as the carpet has worn out. But I reckon Ive done about 600,000km with them in t6he car(s) and a lot of off road.

Thanks Patrolster,

I am aware of the ORS units, they seem to come in standard sizes but still manage to achieve good drawer dimensions since they are made from GI (now Al also available). The 750mm drawers are full extension, but the larger 900mm units (that I want) do not fully extend because they still use the 750mm runners - go figure! They are very nicely presented units and the use you have had from them is testament to their durability, but they don't come with the table option that really appeals from Drifta and I want to tailor the drawer depths to suit my toolbox and other things.

Thanks for your input.

Is there anyone from Melbourne out there that has some Drifta drawers I can look at?

Ian,

ORS have standard designs for common fitouts, but will build custom stuff for you if you want. I've had custom drawers made for my Prado and the fitout for my BT is custom designed, albeit with standard dimensioned drawers.

I'm sure they could integrate a Drifta-style table into the design for you if you asked. They did a slide-out table under a drawer for me and when it's out you can open and close the drawer and the table moves with it. Very handy for accessing stuff and not sweeping everything off the table.

They also supply anything you need if you want to DIY. 02 4647 6322 and ask for Steve.

Usual disclaimer, just a very happy customer.

Thanks for this. I have already had a long chat with someone, but I'll give them another try.

I have the drifta system in a 150 and very impressed with everything so far. I am heading to the great ocean road from up North in 3 weeks, if no one else comes up with the goods the I may be able to help you out.
