We camped at Muloorina Station Waterhole. A very nice campsite. Went from there to Level Post Bay past Lake Eyre South., so got to see both. Unfortunately no water in Lake Eyre north at the time

Sounds good and is it a busy camp site or plenty of space and shade. Just a bush camp thanks

We did what Rod did in 2011 Stephen, though there was water visible at Level Post Bay.

BIG camp area at Muloorina, with big gums scattered around the area. Room for "hundreds" there. Also a couple of toilets. Interesting drive out to the Bay.

Recall there was an honesty box, with fees going to the RFDS.

Yeah, probably a bit wet around there at the moment Stephen, and with cooler weather will take longer to dry out. Should push a fair bit of water down the Neales, and top the Lake up a bit.

The latest water from Qld, from falls 10 days ago, won't be down there for a couple months, which might mesh with your visit? Cooler months would be much better anyway.

Didn't have time to get up to Halligan Bay in 2011, but by all reports it's worth a look too.

The SA Outback Roads page shows the PAR (public access route) through Muloorina to South Lake Eyre.
It's a PAR, but gets closed like other tracks up there whenever needed when wet.
It's shown as closed now even though the southern part of Ood Tk is open to 4WDs and HVs.

We stayed at muloorina in july 2009. Great place tostay and honesty box goes to RFDS. Trip to level post can be good or bad depending on traffic. We had water out about 500m and walked out but gets boggy near the water. Had a chance to dip in muddy toe and taste, very salty. Flew over from Marree and fantastic site with. water in there. There has been water in 3 more times since then.

There is water starting to run into the lake but drying up as fast as it enters.....Level post Bay is a good spot to see it Also up the Birdsville track at cooper creek water is running there at the moment... LAYC (Lake Eyre Yacht Club) is holding a regatta at on Cowarie Station in April....Have a look on there web site for dates....You might even get a chance to sail on the lake...
