Has anyone changed their Dometic RM2355 fridge to an Engel ST90F 80 litre fridge?
I realise the capacity is smaller but interested in others thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

The 90l. 3 way Dometic fridge that our van came with was painfully inadequate when the ambient temps got to around 36-38.
We also remote camp for extended periods so gas consumption/refil became something of a nuisance.
Bit the bullet and replaced it with the Engel model you quote, fitted straight into the hole left by the Dometic.
This was 5 yrs. ago, is T rated and never varies in its performance whatever the ambient encountered. Chills the white wine/beer nice and quickly and no more wet, soggy salad items. The freezer maintains -15 without difficulty.
With a current draw of 2.5a., a 120w. solar panel more than provides for when we are disconnected.
My only criticism is the rather flimsy door hinges and catch.
We travel a lot of very rough roads/tracks and have had the door come adrift.
I stiffened the hinge pin arrangement and made clip catches for the opening side with no further problems.

Thanks Mike, I would have to go with the Engel (size limitations) Coromal Atlas 432
Probably worth me updating the hinges etc. right from start.

Look also at the 130 ltr vitrifrigio. It has the same cabinet size but has a remote compressor. So if you have some space close to the fridge where you can mount the compressor you will get extra room in the fridge. Changed mine over in the van a couple of years ago and has been great so long as you have enough solar/batteries. Not that they draw heaps but obviously need to think about it if you are remote camping.

Sorry Parafan, Coromal Atlas 432 doesn't have sufficient Space.

I changed over about 5 years ago and have been very happy with the result. I installed a DC/DC charger and two 100AH AGM batteries at the same time.

Our Dometic 3 way fridge would not get below 14 degrees when we were at Katherine one year and as a result we had to throw away all our perishable food stuffs. Luckily the life-sustaining beer was in the Engel car fridge.
If you relax at a faster pace you can get more relaxation in for a given time.

With the old camper we had prior to our present caravan, we removed the old gas/electric fridge and replaced it with an upright 12/240 volt Engel which had the same dimensions. Sorry, I do not have the model numbers. Easy to make the swap and connect to the solar panel charged battery we placed into the camper.
