If you plan to go soon G G,
check with the Shires of Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku and
Laverton. There has been recent rains through the area.
For the less
well maintained Northern Territory section, contact the MacDonnell Regional Council in
Alice Springs.
Do you have a good off road caravan? If not you would need to be sure of better than average conditions and travel with great caution; not something I would want to risk.

GG, towed my Spinifex last June from
Laverton to Uluru. No issues at all if you deflate your tyres and drive to the conditions. On the WA side 80km hr should be possible, but 60 on the NT stretch depending upon when the
grader was last through.
We got the two Aboriginal permits from the
Laverton Outback centre by calling up a couple of days before and they were there waiting for us.
Have a sfe trip.
