Drive to the road it can be rough. We came across a cub that had lost an axle, almost new. he left it for the locals. That was last year. Ring Kings station and ask. B

And I have driven it at 80kph+ all the way.
Best advise is go and have a look yourself, if it is bad, just go slower.
And watch out for the signs....

ps... a permit is required to drive that road.

Hi Jomi,do a search here for "Mereenie Loop" - it is sure to have been discussed many times. We did OK with our caravan, but not so for the people with a camper trailer that broke a spring and we and another traveller helped them limp to Kings Canyon. It took our convoy all day. Without knowing anything about your 'semi off road caravan' I cannot recommend the route for you.

It depends where you are coming from and what you want to see along the way. From Google maps (times based on not towing) Alice Springs to Kings Canyon via the Mereenie Loop is 322 kilometres and 5.5 hours. Via good sealed roads (Stuart Highway, Lasseter Highway and Luritja Road) totals 471 kilometres with a time estimate of 5.8 hours. As Google times are computer generated, they would not take into account the varying and often bad conditions on the Mereenie Loop.
