About half teaspoon of Oil of Cloves to a litre of water, and spray on. Only thing that actually kills the spores.

Two successive applications of a chlorine solution will also work to clean the mould and kill the spores.
Complete Campsite canvas care
That's assuming the awning in question is a cotton canvas rather than polyester. Waterproof poly will have a coating. No idea how to treat it.

Scott,
Have a look at Thread 54080, it has a wealth of information on canvas care and cleaning from a past contributor who called himself 'BR'.
