Liz at Trilby Station, a well known destination along the Darling River, has said they are getting much needed rain and roads into the property are closed presently (Sunday 08 May).

This will mean that the Darling River run will be affected - worth noting if you are heading that way over next few days.

Give Liz a call at Trilby in need.

And it is great they are getting much needed rain, even if travel plans may be affected.

That is one slippery road when it gets even the slightest bit damp.
We got caught going down the west side, threatening weather but still open when we got on at the north end, and south of Tilpa it started finely drizzling.
With road type AT tyres on, I really had to concentrate to keep it going the last 40km or so, keep momentum, stay on the crown, and no choice but to keep going.
Just made it, with a little mess, but road wasn't wet enough to cause more than a little top removed.
We passed a few locals, who encouraged us to keep moving at all costs.
Certainly a road you would not want to think about traversing after the signs are indicating closed.

Agreed, Les.
We were on an overnight camp at the Paroo Darling nat park up from Wilcannia, on the western side. Skies looked threatening in the morning so we hastened our pack up. Before we had finished it started to spit and by the time we got on the road back to Wilcannia it had turned to grease on glass. It took all my concentration to keep the Karavan and Prado combo on track - it developed a mind of its own.

Mind you, worse things could happen then getting "holed-up" at the Louth pub for a couple of days...!

Got trapped there with a 1.5 t van after roads had been closed - could not do more that 20kph without all 4wd wheels spinning, then became bogged on trying to get into Indalia.
