Love reading the good reports about Patrols.
With regard to the EGR replacements, please excuse my shortcomings as a mechanic, but how does one recognise that EGR replacement is necessary?
We have a June 2003 build 3.0L td. Has not missed a beat to date and as at my last refill, returned 26 mpg with just over 23000 km on the clock.
Thanks.

There is a magazine produced in WA 'Western 4WDriver" that has in the edition that hit my PO Box a couple of days ago (I would presume in the newsagents this weekend) a whole couple of pages on the 3.0l patrol and its problems. Also the problems with the 4.2l diesels. Might be worth getting if only to satisfy yourself that you can be aware of what may go wrong. rgds ps disregard this if not in WA or you are able to get a copy somewhere - you can subscribe but...........
Slow down and relax......

Hi Maverick,

I don't know what you thought of the article, however I did not think that it was well researched and seemed only to talk of anecdotal evidence of some of the problems. Certainly the comments regarding the fixes that Nissan have introduced on the Series 3 seemed to fall well short of the information that has been discussed on this forum. The article didn't leave one feeling confident of purchasing a new Patrol, whereas I get the feeing from this forum that most folks think the Series 3 Patrols are reasonably well sorted. JMHO.

Regards,
Hugh
