Change to Inmarsat Prepaid Credit – Effective 1st July
Inmarsat will be making changes on 30th June 2016 to their pre paid service for the Isatphone. As expected it is not in favour of the end user. There is a work around for the next 12 months – however act quickly to take advantage of this situation.
The current and new cost structures for topping up credit for the SIM are as follows;
Current Isat
Credit Offer Validity New Credit
Offer – JULY 1 Validity
25 unit - $45 30 Days 25 units discontinued
50 units - $79 90 Days 50 units - $79 30 Days
100 unit - $149 180 Days 100 unit - $149 90 Days
250 units - $360 180 Days 250 units - $360 180 Days
500 units - $680 365 Days 500 units - $680 365 Days
Note: You will burn:
- 1.3 units per minute calling any standard mobile or landline on the planet
- 0.5 unit per SMS any standard mobile or landline on the planet.
This is still the cheapest call rate available in the satphone market.
At the new price if you want to keep the handset active for 12 months it will cost you $596 p.a. (4 x $149). Although this is quite a rise, it is still competitive. This quarterly fee allows you to have a fully active handset with free outbound calls with unused credit rolling over each quarter (up to 77 minutes every 3 months).
If you don’t want the service for the full 12 months have a look at these options.
50 units - 30 Days Validity - $79 ….. ie $79 fee for the month with 38 mins talk time.
100 unit - 90 Days Validity - $149 …. ie a monthly fee of $49.66 with 77 mins talk time.
