i downloaded 100k scale topo map from usgs website for washington DC area:
http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/maps/topoview/viewer/#10/38.8333/-77.2579

but i found i'm not able to open the .tiff file in ozi explorer. all i have is an empty background. however, if i downloaded the 24k area map, oz displays the map just fine. I'm using ver 3.95.6f registered copy of oz.

Hi erdos,

Have a look at the oziexplorer website (Home page), click on the Maps tab in the menu and then click on USA map link and read the advice about free maps and the need to convert USGS TopoView maps using the Image Converter software (TIFF to TIFF).

From the website it looks like the 24k USGS maps were OK for OziExplorer but you might need to convert the 100k maps?

Worth a try.

Cheers and good luck.
